 The Doctrine of Baptisms

   Back to Faith 2

Baptism

Bapto () English translation (KJV); dip, wash & baptize. In Hebrews 6:2, baptisms is in the plural number, stating that there is more than one baptism:

1)   The baptism unto Moses (in the cloud & in the sea)
      1 Co 10:2 (1-5)

2)   The baptism of John (before Jesus' death on the cross)
      Mt 3:11 & Ac 1:5

3)   The baptism into the name of Jesus Christ for the remission
      of sin - Ac 2:38 & Ac 19:1-7

4)   The baptism in the Holy Spirit
      Ac 1:5 & Ac 11:16

This study includes all the places the word bapto is found in the New Testament and in the Stegenga pages 108-109.

Please notice every place you see imper. (in red), that the word is in the imperative mood, meaning that it is a command. And if you believe that God is speaking to you in that particular instance, you, my friend, are commanded to be baptized.
