“Hi, I’m Gilbert, and this is my friend David.  We’re here to tell you about the Kingdom of God.”

My friends and I would introduce ourselves in this way when we would go out door to door in different communities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. We would go out in pairs, two by two as Jesus tells us to do in the Bible:

Luke 9:1-2 (1-6) says, “Summoning the 12, He gave them power and authority over all the demons and power to heal diseases. Then He sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.”

Luke 10:1 (1-16) says, “After this, the Lord appointed 70 others, and He sent them ahead of Him in pairs to every town and place where He Himself was about to go.”

I would tell them my name and my friend's name simply as an introduction to. more importantly, tell everyone about the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God, according to Romans 14:17 is, “…Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit.” It’s not at all about us – It’s all about the Kingdom of God!

Now, how do you know that the 2 people standing on your front porch are truly sent there by God???

I John 4:1-3 says, “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to determine if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God. But every spirit who does not confess Jesus, is not from God. This is of the antichrist…”

John 14:11 Jesus says, “Believe Me that I Am in the Father, and the Father is in me.”

John 10:30 Jesus also says, “The Father and I are One.”

Revised 10/17/2017
(of our part of Christ's body)

At the time of Christ, 2,000 years ago, each church was known only by the name of the town in which they were located.  Paul would write simply, "To the church that belongs to God, at Corinth".  Each church was differentiated only by the name of the town  -  there was to be no division!

Since there is no division in Christ's Body, we have refrained from giving ourselves a name, other than the fact that some of us live in Albuquerque.  The word church in Greek is ekklesia which equals, the called out group.   So to follow the New Testament example, we might be part of the group that belong to God in Albuquerque & maybe you are part of the group in Denver, or maybe even Smyrna, and so on.

If you are part of Christ's body, the true name of your group would more accurately be:
The group that belong's to God in, THE NAME OF YOUR TOWN, (goes in here)
